An Interview with Windmill Bistro's Chef and Owner, Bruce Patterson

With Mother's Day around the corner, we headed to Sumner, WA to visit with Bruce Patterson, owner, and chef of the Windmill Bistro. Windmill Bistro is a charming restaurant nestled away in a lush garden setting that can only be described as fairy tale-esque. During our interview, Bruce talks about the challenges he faced while transitioning from working in resorts to becoming a small restaurant owner, why he still makes most of his food in-house, and what motivates him every day. An Interview with Restaurant Owner & WSU Culinary Educator, Jim Harbour

As we pull into the parking lot of Pullman's South Fork Public House, I am surprised by the location. The restaurant is flanked by an Ace Hardware and Dollar Tree - an expected placement but one that was strategically planned by restaurant owner and Washington State University college professor, Jim Harbour. We are meeting for lunch to talk about his newest venture, CASK - a small tapas bar specializing in local beer and wine, complete with a unique 102 square foot kitchen and beautiful rustic interior.

With St. Patrick's Day around the corner, we headed over to Doyle's Public House in Tacoma, WA to get inspired by an Irish themed lunch. Instead of the typical corned beef and cabbage, however, we tried bangers and mash - a traditional favorite of the British and Irish consisting of sausage and mashed potatoes.

Revitalizing Cutters Point Coffee Co.

Upon entering the newly remodeled Cutters Point in Gig Harbor, you may feel that you have stepped foot into a cozy sail loft or warehouse from 100 years ago. Beautiful reclaimed wood and rusted tin create an authentic, warm and welcoming place to gather and socialize. And the look and feel of the space directly reflect what Cutters Point aims to do; make a difference in a warm and welcoming way by enriching the lives of those in the community through coffee and relationships. The decision to remodel and rebrand was largely driven by this mission as well as owner Brooke Payne's commitment to the community and coffee that he serves.

An Interview with Chef and Restaurant Owner, Adam Hegsted

 
From being featured in the South Beach Food & Wine festival, to winning Innovator of the Year from the National Beef Council and United Fresh, to being named Catalyst magazine's Top 20 Under 40 Leaders and 50 Most Influential People in Spokane, WA, Adam Hegsted, restaurant owner and chef, has accomplished much in his relatively short career.
